Why am I an End of Life Doula?

When I started Ageing with Choices, I wasn’t exactly sure what my job title was. Two years later, I’ve discovered that I am, in fact, an End of Life Doula - and I’ve been fulfilling this role for a long time.

An End of Life Doula is someone who provides guidance, support, and assistance to individuals as they approach the end of their lives. And it’s important to note that end of life doesn’t begin only at the very end; it can start at any age and stage of life.

You might be a middle-aged person looking to plan ahead for your future, or an older individual wanting to ensure your end of life plans reflect your desires. Perhaps you’re living with a life limiting illness and want to prepare for what’s to come, or maybe you’ve just received a diagnosis and need help putting plans in place for peace of mind. No matter what the reason you’re considering your end of life, I am here to help.

I offer support, guidance, and advocacy, helping you plan not only how you want to live but also how you want to be celebrated and remembered.

I provide education and support to you, your family, and your friends, helping you understand what’s happening and what your needs are during this process.

I can assist with planning essential documentation, including your Will, Power of Attorney, Guardianship, Advance Care Directive, and Funeral Plans.

Let me walk alongside you, ensuring that you maintain Choice, Capacity, and Control over your life every step of the way.

My vision is to ‘make end of life an everyday part of life’.
